Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Might Be Announced This Year After All..

13:58

Google didn’t unveil yet any details about the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie (even though the rumor mill speculates that the next Android version will be Jelly Bean 4.3), but sources say that we might actually get the new Android iteration later this year.

During the Google I/O even that took place earlier this month, all the new apps introduced by Google were actually, improvements brought to the current list of applications. Still, the company has presented some videos that gave the app developers that attended the event reasons to believe that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be the next version that will see the light of day.
Therefore during the Reto Meier presentation, Android Development Relations Tech Lead, an animation was put on the screens where a girl was eating an ice cream, while Bugdroid (the Android mascot) was eating a Key Lime Pie.

Google launched Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in late 2011, synchronized with the debut of Galaxy Nexus, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean saw the light of day in July 2012, coming pre-loaded on the Nexus 7, the first tablet co-developed by Google and another company. Therefore, if Google keeps the same pace, it might unveil Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie later this year, the next version of their mobile operating system.

We are expecting Google to announce the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release date in the coming months, along with the new features that will be introduced, especially because there were a lot of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie leaks over the past couple of weeks. Some benchmark logs have revealed that Android 5.0 Key Lime pie was running on a smartphone developed by Sony.
Moreover, there were rumors saying that Sony might develop the next-gen Nexus smartphone, which makes the rumors even more credible.

In my opinion, we will not see the Android 5.0 Key Lime sooner than October. Why? I’m glad you’ve asked. As you probably know, the Mountain View-based giant will celebrate Android’s 5th birthday in October and, as I know Google, it will want to keep the launch of new Android iteration for this occasion. Therefore we might see Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie debuting this October along with a Nexus 5.

In the meantime Google might unveil Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which will be a minor update to Android 4.2, which would give the smartphone and tablet manufacturers more time to update their devices to the latest Android version.
What are you expecting from Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie? What are some new features you think Google will introduce with the new Android version? Please let us know in the comments section below.
